I've received an invite to "a social evening, including a buffet, in memory of M. at Emmanuel URC". There is the comment "We will be remembering M. through music, sketches, poems and words. We would like to know if you would be able to contribute anything to the evening so that we can arrange a programme."

I'm not quite sure what to do. Part of me thinks the family will only want "close friends" offering things, and it would just be awkward for them if I offered anything. Also, I don't quite know what to offer. Vierne's pieces in free style for the organ are short (about 4 1/2 minutes each) and contemplative without being too depressing, so I could offer to play the prelude from that, but then I have to inconvenience people in Girton and Emma URC to practice on a real organ before hand.

Hm. social gatherings like this are awkward. I don't even know what to *wear*.
