Bah

Well, it's Valentines day. My housemates are out being romantic (or maybe Pete's off role-playing), and Mark is ill, so not coming round for dinner as he usually might. And I'm sat in this computer room waiting for a 4pm lecture. Oh well.

RSPCA was exciting this morning. My case was a cockateal with respiratory disease. An unhandled cockateal, just for added excitement. We opted for "detailed visual examination".

Freebies! I got a load of freebies off Waltham's today, which was nice. A thermos (steel), and digital thermometer, which are useful, a load of free food, and a backpack. All good stuff.

The free food included some organic soup, which I've just eaten. Very nice :-) Everyone else is out, and I think I may pootle into town later - there's a brother from the Taize community turning up to Wesley for a special service and social this evening, so I may go to that. There's a cute Methsoc person who might be there too...

I've just spoken to the parental-type things again about housing, having talked to Jon and Sarah yesterday. I'm close to a decision now

Greenend: Has the advantage of being a known quantity, and being very large indeed. On the down side, it is expensive (as in, the absolute-upper-end of my budget)

Jon+Sarah: rather more uknowns here, but it seems likely that we'll be able to get somewhere that's cheaper and nearer to the vet school than greenend. I wonder whether they'll be better able to deal with a stressed finalist too. I don't know.

I guess in the end, it's down to gut feeling - there's very little to choose between the two - I don't think living with Jon+Sarah would be difficult, despite what some have said about living with a couple (and Sarah has clearly given the matter some considerable thought too). But it is an unknown, and Greenend is a very big house indeed.

I think I'm going to go with Jon and Sarah, but I think I'll sleep on it at least, and maybe see if I've changed my mind in a day or two...
