The interview today was quite hard - nearly an hour, and they asked me about why I wanted to do a PhD, the value of doing one, why I'd wanted to be a vet in the first place, clinical practice, epidemiology, and expected me to be able to do maths!
Then then made me wait outside whilst they considered (they'd interviewed someone else this morning), and then offered me the studentship :-) They then went on to be very nice about how well I'd interviewed, and how they expect me to be a "leading light" in the departments postgraduate scene; whilst that's pretty scary really, it's also a big confidence boost (particularly in the long-term academic career direction).
So, I'm going to celebrate this evening - if you can read this LJ, you're welcome to turn up to the Carlton Arms [on Carlton Street] from, say, 9pm until closing to have a beer/drink of your choice with me :-)
