I've had a pretty productive day today, so I'm going to have a quick spod before going to chapel, and thence the Carlton.
We spent the weekend in Liverpool visiting my brother, which
atreic has already talked about somewhat. It was good to see him and his wife, even if things were a little ad-hoc at times. I didn't really like The Departed - it was just too grim, and I didn't really care about any of the characters, as they were all bastards.
Monday's climbing was good, including the arete again :) Tuesday was hectic - I had a sermon to write (which will appear here in due course), which people seemed to appreciate. At the last minute I was asked to speak to the Fresh Expressions people about the Goth Eucharist. I spent the rest of the evening thinking how I could have better answered the questions, but hopefully I won't look too much of a fool on the resulting DVD (due out in April, AIUI). They seemed a little surprised that I wasn't gothed up for them, and that my excuse was that I'd come straight from preaching in chapel!
The Goth Eucharist itself was well attended, and Fraser gave an interesting sermon about inclusivity; I didn't agree with all of it, but it was good to hear a "liberal" position defended clearly and without being rude to the more "conservative" Christians. I went on to the Calling for a little bit, but headed home early as I had to be up early on Wednesday.
Wednesday was the CIDC research day, for which I had prepared a corrected version of my Australia poster. Sitting through a whole day of talks is always hard work, but I got some useful things out of the day, and some people liked my poster. The evening was curry to mark
covertmusic's birthday - I had fun, and I hope he did too! The food was certainly very good, so I might go to the Pipasha again, even if it is the wrong end of town.
Today has been good at work - I wrote some python to parse the output of a previous bit of code, feed the numbers to R (via rpy), and then produce a LaTeX table as output, which I could
The wonderful
atreic has arranged for us to look at some houses in Coventry on Saturday, which will be interesting, even if the lovely house I saw has gone :(
Time now to go to chapel for choral eucharist, and then to the Carlton...
