Software sucks

Mail.app isn't, generally, a bad MUA. It does have a serious flaw (new this version) as regards address handling.

Suppose, for a moment, that I have email with a header like:
From: "Smith, Fred A (AHEG)" <fred.a.smith@somewhere.foo.uk>

I want to send them another email, so I right-click on the address, and select "new message". What does it do?

It tries to send email to:
Smith, "Fred A (AHEG)" <fred.a.smith@somewhere.foo.uk>

Unsurprisingly, my outgoing smtp server says "you expect me to send THAT?", and Mail.app helpfully doesn't pass the error message on, instead simply saying "I can't send this message".

FPAV isn't good enough for the muppets that wrote this heap of junk
