So, the turnout for the AV referendum was a higher-than expected 41%. Obviously not higher than crazyscot expected, as he was exactly on the money with a prediction of 41%. He wins the chocolate (and maybe a small bonus for being spot-on).

Bah, the electoral commission put it at 42%. Not that I have a vested interest in that being the answer ;-)

Yes, the BBC were reporting on an earlier press release. The Electoral Commission haven't yet finalised the figure, although it looks set to be slightly higher than 42%.
