emperor at 07:51pm on 07/02/2002Today, we got to see round the experimental animals facility (which I can't tell you the location of, for obvious reasons). They keep mostly rats, cats, dogs, and marmosets (the latter for study of neurodegenerative conditions), in really good housing. I mean, a lot better conditions than I've sween quite a few supposedly well-loved pets kept in, and they get expert care too.
We got to practice handling techniques on some of them too, which was good practice. A useful morning, generally.
I'm annoyed to hear that a new animal-lab was turned down by the council, apparantly on the bsis of the police saying that it might be a risk to public safety . FFS! are terrorists meant to get their way in this country? Just because a bunch of ill-educated ignorant nutcases decide to protest about HLS, should research into sigficnt neurological diseases in people be held back? Fuckwits the lot of them.
