I just want to plug the American Express travel agents in town today. I spent half an hour or so in there trying to sort out the most cost-effective way of getting to the conference in Portorož, Slovenia. After much faff, the nice bloke said "I think your best bet is going to be Ryanair to Trieste, and a hotel transport from there", and told me that I could either book the flight with them, or save myself 20UKP by booking over the 'net.

In effect, he'd happily given me half an hour of his time (and knowledge) absolutely free :)

Its a sad commentary when we feel the need to record the fact that someone was nice to us and gave us good service for a change!

I always make a point of reporting any especially helpful staff in Tesco when I go in. Most of them are so embittered, that I think the nice ones should be encouraged.

Trieste airport is half-airport, half bus-station. It's possibly the single least showy airport I've ever seen, including military bases.

It's very odd.

You remind me I'm meant to be sorting out a holiday for me and [livejournal.com profile] fanf. If I get fed up, maybe I'll go to them too.
