Well, the bitching about my IRC bot continues apace. Certain people seem intent on getting their way, entirely their way, and nothing but their way. Furthermore, they seem intent on not engaging the bot's author (me) in reasoned discussion; they cite the argument I had with Ian at the wake as reason why they don't want to do this. As if that was my fault! OK, so maybe I should have had the patience of a saint, but I felt seriously cornered then.

Bah.

CUSFS committee tonight. I'd much rather be at not-cusfs, TBH. Good beer, and a smoke-free pub is just what I need, rather than New Hall bar :-(

Today, we got to see round the experimental animals facility (which I can't tell you the location of, for obvious reasons). They keep mostly rats, cats, dogs, and marmosets (the latter for study of neurodegenerative conditions), in really good housing. I mean, a lot better conditions than I've sween quite a few supposedly well-loved pets kept in, and they get expert care too.

We got to practice handling techniques on some of them too, which was good practice. A useful morning, generally.

I'm annoyed to hear that a new animal-lab was turned down by the council, apparantly on the bsis of the police saying that it might be a risk to public safety . FFS! are terrorists meant to get their way in this country? Just because a bunch of ill-educated ignorant nutcases decide to protest about HLS, should research into sigficnt neurological diseases in people be held back? Fuckwits the lot of them.
