...but it's going to be earlier than that all week from now. I'm on orthopaedics "on" week this week, so I have to work up any in-patients in my care before 8am rounds; I have to get up an hour before I need to be at the vet school, so this means <7am alarms. Urgle. More irritatingly, today I did about 15 minutes' work before about 10.15. I have one case going to surgery this afternoon, so hopefully tommorow will be more gentle. Hopefully.

Saturday was a write-off, really; I spent much of it lying in bed or on the sofa feeling grotty, whilst [livejournal.com profile] senji and Sarah looked after me admirably. Yesterday, I felt significantly better, so went to Chapel. After which, Sarah and I went to Tesco, I had a row with the neighbours about car parking (which I seem to have won), and we had Sally round for a very nice dinner (even if one of my sauces went almost-solid).

Of course, this meant we had to talk about housing arrangements, and there was the revelation-of-d00m. I am still alive, though, so it didn't go as badly as expected. It remains to see how this will affect things, though.

Ever have the feeling events are conspiring against you? I had a truly cunnning plan for the evening, which gave me something to look forward to during the day. But:

1) my 2pm operation didn't start until 3.30 - 90 minutes standing around
2) the surgeon was slow - the operation took longer than expected
3) post-op X-rays were delayed by a processor fault
4) rounds took too long

This combined to make me slightly late for pizza; so I decided to ring people, since I don't believe in just turning up late and expecting space to be found.

5) usual phone occupied
6) first backup phone borked
7) No-one is answering their borg

I then go off to find Kate's mobile, since she usually goes to pizza; by the time I've walked to the computer room, logged on, found it, and gone back to the phone, I'm getting borderline for pizza being seated already

8) Still no-one (now including Kate) is answering their borg.
9) My stomach pain is now getting pretty bad

At this point, I give up and go home.

10) The 2-second bicycle repair takes 10 minutes, and I nearly maim myself on the crappy stand

So, evening ruined, I'm feeling ill again, and I have my own mopey company to look forward to (and have to go and find something to cook with). gaaah. Any of these things in isolation would be copable with, but all together, combined with an early start and gah.
