When I booked my tickets for the conference I'm due to go to tomorrow, the flights looked like this:

LHR 12:20 - ATH 17:55
ATH 19:20 - CFU 20:20

A week or so back, when I booked my transfers to and from the conference hotel, I discovered that the latter leg had been pushed back, making the schedule:

LHR 12:20 - ATH 17:55
ATH 20:50 - CFU 21:50

Fair enough - few hours of tedium at Athens airport, but such is life. Today, I discover that the outbound leg has been delayed:

LHR 15:00 - ATH 20:40
ATH 20:50 - CFU 21:50

10 minutes is too short a time for a transfer in Athens. My travel agent spoke to the airline, who said that it was the result of a strike in Greece, and they'd move my booking to the next flight:

LHR 15:00 - ATH 20:40
ATH 05:30 - CFU 06:30

...meaning I'll need to check-in at ATH at around 4am. The only hotel on-site would want &eur;205 to put me up for those few hours, so I'll be crashing at the airport. Joy. Still, I discover that sleeping at Athens airport isn't too bad. I'll just need to pack plenty of books.

I've re-arranged my transfers to the hotel, and told the hotel I'll be arriving later than expected.

I wonder if someone is trying to tell me to stop going to conferences... :(
