Since early afternoon yesterday, my ears have been misbehaving, in a manner that's a little tricky to describe. I originally thought there was just something odd in the air-conditioning - it sounds a little like low-frequency pressure pulses. There's a background noise all the time, but unlike tinnitus which I've had on odd occasions before (which was quite high-pitched ringing in the ears) this is low-intensity low-pitched, maybe like the wind (only low frequency) or the sound you sometimes hear if you put a seashell to your ear.

Other sounds are superimposed, so I don't think I'm failing to hear things (except that very quiet noises may get drowned out); also, it seems lessened when I'm lying down, and varies from room to room somewhat (my office seems worse than some other bits of the building).

I don't have a sore throat or anything, and it's bilateral, which is confusing, and a little concerning. FTTB, I just wanted to try and record what I'm perceiving, for future reference.

This afternoon, I went on a 3-hour course about using your voice more effectively. There were some interesting exercises and pointers, although I'd would have preferred more criticism, and less being told my voice was great (the tutor only did this to me, which was a bit irritating). I have a booklet of exercises and warmups, which will be of use in the future, I suspect :-)

Oddly, now when I hum, I get a fundamental tone, too. From D below middle upwards, when I hum I can fairly strongly hear the octave below sounding too. Very strange - has anyone else observed this after doing voice exercises?
