A few interesting bits of the web I found today. Firstly, The Air Transport Users Council, which has a handy set of Air Travel Advice, including your rights if delayed, and so on.

Secondly, a BBC article on why you feel crap first thing in the morning. I can now feel that the time I spend putting the kettle on is productive :)

I've just emailed the Canadian Immigration people in the UK to ask about whether or not I need a visa to present at a conference in .ca. I think not, but apparantly their immigration officials have been stroppy about conference presenters before...

I had no trouble getting into Canada as a conference presenter last year -- and I told them at immigration exactly what I was doing.

I think the trick is to make it clear that you're not actually working while you're there...

Likewise the year before -- I had no problems at all, in fact the issue was never raised even though I told immigration why I was there.

They were a little bit arsey with me when I went to sort out our Toronto office's VPN connection. "Couldn't a Canadian do this?"

Ah, but that's obviously working, wheras presenting at a conference isn't in the same way...

Sure - I wasn't implying it was the same, just that I was surprised how thoroughly I was probed when visiting a colony and bearning Her Majesty's Passport.
