*mutters to self* should have thrown that big pile of AD&D stuff out, really should... don't look at this, don't start remembering characters with fond sharp-bladedness fluffiness... pretend you didn't see this...

1) Sell the RoDex; the only stat rings worth keeping are Int and Con. Try to replace the Ring of Acid with Damage or Constitution ASAP.
2) Replace the Amulet of Resist Acid with Amulet of Wisdom (or one of the uber-amulets if any happen to show up) ASAP. Wisdom affects saving throw, and there are one or two quite nasty effects to which you don't yet have immunity.
3) With that Dex (sufficient for theft immunity unless they've completely changed the theft mechanics since I last played), you shouldn't be carrying more than about three copies of each of the town spellbooks. If you get hit by enough fire attacks in one turn to burn all three copies of any of them, having your spellbooks burned is the least of your worries; stash the rest. (In particular, carrying five is equivalent to carrying four; on a stack of five, the first hit has a good chance of burning two, but on a stack of four or fewer, a single hit will never burn more than one.)
4) You have Resistance of Scarabtarices and Sorcery and Evocations; you should seriously consider diving to depth 35, as this will significantly improve your chances of getting stat potions from a troll pit. If you do this, be paranoid about keeping at least Resist Poison active.
5) rec.games.roguelike.angband is your friend :-)

Thanks for the comments.

1) would you prefer Damage or Con (since I'm not shifting the RoInt)? I kept the RoAcid because a) acid is pain b) quite a big AC boost. That said, I seem to keep having my boots damage by acid anyway :/
4) Troll pits are my friend.
5) argh, more usenet. Is it actually my friend? :)

I'm playing old-stable angband; partly through inertia, but I note that stable's angband has faffed around with spell books meaning it's much much harder to get genocide :(

1) I'd prefer Con. Rings of Acid won't improve your equipment's survival against acid one iota, damage resistance from equipment is a boolean condition, and the vast majority of artifact body armours give acid resistance - as does your shield of Resistance, which can only be improved on by replacing it with one of the artifact shields :)
4) Indeed :)
5) It's certainly a useful source of advice.

The RNG is listening to you - I just bought a ring of con (+4) in the black market ;)
