Thank you for your comments on my previous entry on the subject.
I would like to clarify my position - I'm not saying we should do nothing to stop terrorists. I'm saying we need to think a little more carefully about what the actual damage terrorism is doing is, and whether that justifies undermining society by taking away civil liberties.
This article has some very interesting things to say on the recent "home-made-exploding-liquids" plot, although I can't personally comment on the chemistry therein. I do wonder whether it's actually possible to prevent sufficiently clever and determind suicide attackers.

Assuming this isn't another Forest Gate, that seems to be precisely what the police have done, and if they've got results it's enormously to their credit.
I just wish we were putting more money into letting the police employ clever people to think sensibly about things and less into automatic rectal iPod detectors. (I don't know for certain that's the next multi-billion-dollar project they're working on, but the way things are going it seems plausible.)

Is this one of your company's plans?

I don't think it is, because they're willing to die to achieve the aims of their leader/group. And even blowing themselves up at a security point will have a terror effect, killing themselves, killing and injuring the security people and anyone in a certain radius around them.
And if the two Brits in Israel a few years are anything to go by, the one that bottled it, or whose gear didn't go off, they end up dead anyway - by some other means (personally I suspect they were knocked off to stop them being interrogated if caught).
