I smell bullshit. Or at the very least, highly misleading writing.

Since when for instance has there ever been a recommended daily amount for sugar. Unless they mean an RDA for carbs in general which even the most dubious nutritional sources agree differs between the sexes (probably based on general bulk)?

And I can't imagine the diuretic thing being any more true than it is for tea or coffee (both of which have a diuretic effect, but not enough of one to cause you to lose as much fluid as you take in).

All of which leads me to strongly distrust the rest of the article. Pure sensationalism at work, even though I wouldn't claim Coke is a health food.

As soon as the author was challenged in comments to cite sources, quantities, etc., he backed away very quickly.
