We are shortly to get a new Fridge/Freezer. This means we need to get rid of the old one, preferably somewhere nearby. The Council will come and take it away for a small fee (it won't fit in our car), but I'd rather find someone who will re-use it if possible. Any suggestions?

Oh, and let me plug this again. Go comment!

see if you have a freecycle group anywhere near you. I'd be surprised if there isn't one.

You can post it on the group, and people reply saying 'ooh yes I'd love that' and they come and collect it at your convenience - it's great!

We saw an Emmaus (or however it's spelt, it's too early), didn't we, near the hire van place? They may be willing to come and collect it.

I was going to suggest Freecycle too (and yes, there is a Coventry Freecycle). It's a bit of a pain in the arse from the email point of view (imagine the whole of ucam.adverts.giveaway in your inbox, but with fifteen times as many people and a lower total sum of literacy and clue between them) - I got a separate account to deal with it! - but useful for shifting stuff.

Also, this charity claims on its home page that it does furniture recycling in Coventry (among other places). No idea if this includes white goods but you could ask.

We have been considering the freecycle thing. Thanks for the other link - I'd not heard of them before!

Don't bother trying to make any money out of it unless you have plenty of time... it's very much a buyer's market (though if it's ultra-nice it might be worth it)

Another option is Ebay with a 1p starting bid - if someone pays you a fiver then it might be worthwhile. And if not you only lose the posting fee (a matter of pennies, I think).
