The LDAP setup here isn't documented (suprise, surprise), so I wanted to email my configuration settings to a colleague. I open the configuration dialogue, get out the LDAP settings, and then go to the email I was writing...to discover that I can't type into that until I've closed the config dialogue. Stupid, stupid UI design, and another minus point for Mail.app.

That's odd, I've mailed config stuff to people in the past and not had a problem.

/me gets out powerbook, tries it.

Works fine for me.

If you click on Composing -> Configure LDAP -> Edit (or +) then the modeless configuration box spawns a modal dialog.

Well, it can't be any worse than Outlook (Express). Whatever one might think of Office (& I quite like Office) ยต$'s internet clients are far, far worse.

I think that modal dialogue boxes are often unnecessary and a mistake, and I wonder why programmers use them so often.
