Well, I'm back now. I didn't actually keep a diary this time, mostly because I was too busy and not lonely enough ;)

There really is nothing to do on a Sunday, except go to church and join protests against sunday flights (which I didn't do). I have met someone who was done for being drunk in charge of a cow, someone who takes corners on two wheels in a lorry, presbyterian ministers who obviously considered me to be a dangerous heretic,...

I have sat through 80 minute services with 30 minute sermons (before I found the Episcopalian church), walked round the now sadly derelict Lewis castle, seen the Callanais standing stones, sat and listened to the sea for great chunks of time,...

A lot of the stories from the Hebridies are rather veterinary and/or related to dead animals (I did spend two weeks working in a slaughterhouse...), so I'll not bore you with them at length. It was definitly a worthwhile experience, though. Missing BiCon sucked, though.

Some people got postcards. Others would have if I had a postal address for them.

Today, I went for a bit of retail therapy: "Silver side up" by Nickelback and "Ideas above our station" by Hundred Reasons. Both very good :)

I have an enormous amount of stuff to do over the next two weeks. I might even do some of it, but otherwise have lots of time to meet people during the day (and evenings when I'm not RSC-ing). That's about all for now, I think :)

"80 minute services with 30 minute services"? How does that work?

gah. I meant 30 minute sermons. Thanks for pointing that out - I've edited the entry to correct that.

"Drunk in charge of a cow"? they either have my respect or my amusement, actually, both!

so, has it earned your respect as the most gorgeous place on the planet? I think its wonderful, but I'm not sure how far south in the islands you went. I think I liked the southern end more, although Callanais was possibly the best touristy thing we visited.

However, the Scillys are better. far better. although that could have been because I did them on my own. ;)
