There are suprises, and then there are suprises.
Granny usually sends me a cheque for my birthday, in with the birthday card. This evening, I was opening my birthday cards (early, but cards are allowed early :) and the cheque was *huge*. I am completely and utterly gob-smacked. I don't think I've ever seen 10KUKP before at once. Some will go to paying back the friend who loaned me 1K before. At least 5 (maybe 7) will go into a high-interest account, and the rest will see me through this year, with any luck.
