Arbury road finally got back to me (after more than a week) to say "sorry, we aren't taking students while we refurbish". Thanks for telling me swiftly, folks :/ Still, I rang up Rosemount (where I did some work experience back in '95-'96 or so), who said they'd take me, which is good. They also said they remembered me, which is possibly less good :)

Also the potential PhD supervisor got back to me, finally:
"Thank you for the above. I will circulate your enquiry at our next Unit meeting next week." That's more positive than I was expecting...

I think it may be time to go to the pub soon - I'll write up the med demo I have to give tommorow when I get back :)
