The car that I've liked the most was a Ford Mondeo automatic, which was lovely. The car that I've found most useful for transporting lots of stuff is a Renault Scenic, but it seems to eat brake discs.

Oh, and count yourself lucky that you're not in Finland. Sales tax on cars is horrendous. As in - the tax is twice the cost of the car.
