I am irrationally squicked by potato eyes. Am I the only one?

I answered No, and I have a general squick about eyes.

They're a *bit* tentacly maybe, but I can't really see them being squicky.

I didn't think anything could squick vets!

Makes sense in retrospect, though. They're trained to be unfazed by anything in the animal kingdom, so whatever still squicks them has to come from outside that.

Ooh, that's a very interesting argument.

Ugh, am just recovering from food poisoning due to failing to notice my chips were raw on Saturday!

I am squicked by them, but I'm not sure it's irrational. At an intellectual level, I know they're slightly toxic; at an instinctive level I think we're coded only to eat dead things, and potato eyes look uncomfortably alive.

Squicky in what way? Mentally not at all and wouldn't understand that. However even years before potatoes were an issue I did not want to eat potatoes which had significant ears/greenness mainly because they made me feel rather unwell.

Squicky is an overstrong description, but I don't like them. And I think it's largely an irrational dislike.

Well I can see why you'd biologically be programmed not to like the growing (poisonous) ones anyway...

I just cut them out and avoid any raw or greenness. Not that keen on some forms of potato, think the waxy ones taste disgusting.

Actually I think they're awesome. In the same sort of way I think alligators are awesome, granted.

Just eyes no, but when they get long and tentacly and reach out from the cupoard like the Watcher in the Water, yes.

No, but I can see why you might, because I've read Mary Douglas's "Purity and Danger".

Define squicky. I don't eat the black bits, if that's what you mean, and may sometimes be found chopping the ends off chips before I eat them.
