When my grandfather put in the taps in my mother's house, though he put the taps in the (to me, anyway) customary arrangement of hot on the left, cold on the right, got a job lot of ill-sorted tap knobs (or whatever you call the bits you turn) with unexpected colours (such as green) and a mix of labels in English (H for hot, C for cold) and Spanish (C for hot, F for cold). That and the fact that you can stand behind the kitchen sink which is built in a central unit rather than against a wall, means I am terminally confused when visiting my mother even though nothing has changed there in 30 years.
