The person who was going to do my hut in a week and a half's time has changed their mind.

That sucks so much. I thought things were sorted, and that this term might be copable-with, and now it gets thrown back in my face. I could try re-advertising, but it's getting awfully close now. I'm gutted :-(

*hugs* It's probably worth readvertising it anyway, just in case, though I wouldn't get your hopes up too much. There're possibly people back now who got less money for Christmas than they'd hoped, or have compared their bank balance at the beginning of term with their bills, and will be more desperate for the money than they were earlier.

Would it help if someone lent you a mobile phone or a palm to play games on or something while you're there?

I have re-advertised, but expect no response :(

I have a mobile currently (I forgot to return my parents' loaned one); the problem is the enforced isolation, and not being able to get away from the damned place; it makes any impending depression so much worse.

in that case, can i suggest making a big concerted effort beforehand to arrange for people to come and visit you ? like, have a really full diary of people coming to visit you *every* evening. that should, hopefully, help to keep the worst of the depression at bay.
