A previous update to angband broke the shared scorefile, so I stopped playing (and need at some point to see if I can fish the old score file out of the backups). But 3.5.1 is in unstable, and has restored the shared savefiles, so I thought I'd backport it to stable and have a try. Quite a lot has changed!
The most obvious changes relate to the display - in a VT with more than 80x24, SDL is used to make more use of the space, so you get the dungeon view, your inventory, and recent messages. Also the walls and lighting are a bit fancier.
Game-play wise, plenty has changed - shops don't buy things any more (except to ID them), so there's less temptation to load up on loot and then go back to the town to sell; but on the flip side, if you find shiny stuff that you can't use (because of character class, or whatever), then you don't get the "at least it'll sell for $$$" benefit. It does mean I've only been to the town a couple of times (I may do so again to drop off the current melee weapon until it's not quite so over-heavy for my STR). And going up a level restores any stats that have been drained, which makes stat-drains of your non-primary stat a bit less dangerous. OTOH, some of the better book-4 spells have vanished, and I've yet to find any of the dungeon spell-books.
I think I was a bit lucky to avoid seeing any uniques in the early stages when Mages are particularly weak. OTOH, I've not found much great loot yet!
There are a few bugs, too:
the help menu doesn't work properly
the terminal isn't tidied up on exit
"Reveal Monsters" doesn't reveal mimics and the like
the spoiler file isn't accurate

I really like no_selling, although it does increase my desire for a mathom house to put all the $wrong books.
I also like randarts, really mixes things up; although I think one has to be willing to cheat by increasing the size of the home inventory somewhat (I think it's fair enough, since you can't anticipate what's coming as you can with standarts).
I'd play randuniques if it existed.
