For a long time, we had our ADSL via BlackCat. Back in July they sold up, and Nitrex bought their ADSL accounts. At the time I was busy with other things, so didn't have time to investigate the alternatives. Anyhow, Nitrex aren't that good, really. Connectivity has been rather unreliable, and the response to fault reports sub-optimal. Last month, I got fed up, and decided to switch to A&A, who several friends recommended.
That would all have been sorted before I went to Florida, only Nitrex were incompetent, and failed to produce a MAC in the requisite 5 days. Anyhow, our new line activated today. Switching over worked smoothly (and I'd remembered to set the TTL for the relevant zones to a short period earlier), and we now have much more bandwidth for less per month!
Speedtest.net think we have 3337 kbps download and 359 kbps upload. Downloading a 100m file resulted in an average speed of 713.88 kBps (which is more like 5700 kbps). All much better than the limited 512k line we were on previously! I can't speak about reliability yet, of course...
