My current Angband game is going significantly better than any previous ones. So I thought I'd curse it to immediate death by posting about it
Currently on depth level 29. Generally, things are going well. I can take on troll pits and orc pits without really worrying, as well as some of the lesser vaults; I ran away from a balrog, though. My problems currently are mostly resistances: things which breathe fire or shoot acid are a PITA, because even if I cast the appropriate resistance spell too, they still destroy my stuff; acidic cytoplasms are the reason I still run away from jelly pits. Can you get "ignore" things for such attacks? Also, getting blind/confusion resistance would be good. Nexus I'm not too worried about, because I have a pile of stat restore things in my house.
It would also be good to get the other spell books at some point...

Blindness and confusion resistance are indeed really useful about now; aside from various artifacts which confer these, you should *Identify* any Robes of Permanence, Armour of Elvenkind or Cloaks of Aman which you find - these have a random high resistance (though it's usually something you already have or don't need...). Relevant colours of dragon scale mail also provide these resistances, as do a number of artifacts (mostly helmets for blindness e.g. Thranduil, Holhenneth, Dor-Lomin, Gondor; and body armour for confusion e.g. Isidur, Rohirrim, Caspanion). A few potions of CCW and staves of teleportation may need to tide you over until you find something permanent though.
