Recently, I plugged a webcomic here, apparantly with some success. Today, I want to plug something rather more substantial to you. Specifically, The Law West of Ealing Broadway (available on LJ as [livejournal.com profile] west_of_ealing). As described in his first post, he's a lay magistrate in South-East England. His blog is a fascinating insight into this aspect of the English legal system, and a welcome change from how the tabloids portray magistrates.

The blog contains apposite quotes relating to law and order, interesting trivia, some pointers as to what goes on in court, a series of funny stories, as well as some more or less amusing anecdotes that make you think, and a few opportunities to play judge.

Oh, and one for [livejournal.com profile] antinomy :)

Anyway, all highly recommended.

Def. admits to drinking seven pints of strong lager. He did not plan to drive home but he took a late decision to go for it. Reversing in the car park he hit a stationary car. The driver started to shout and thump on the roof of def's car, but def claims not to have noticed. Driving off, def manages fifty yards before hitting a concrete bus shelter. This he admits to having noticed.

Well done, you can cut-and-paste.

Did you mean to add a comment or something?

No, I thought it was funny and short enough to share with anyone reading this post. *shrug*
