Matthew Vernon is deeply perceptive. Remember the story of the Princess and the Pea? Matthew could detect a lentil under a million mattresses. Not, you understand that Matthew spends his time looking for things to criticise. Far from it, Matthew goes out of his way to avoid finding fault. It's just that faults have a way of finding him. It is as if they walk up to him and tap him on the shoulder saying "Matthew, look at me can't you see how badly made\designed\organised I am? Please put me out of my misery. For heavens' sake let someone know what is wrong with me and tell them how to put me right!" Matthew Vernon is a kind, sympathetic person who is always willing to help. How can he resist such a request? Reluctantly, for he knows it will cause controversy and he hates any form of conflict, he will come bravely to the aid of this poor little problem.

Or so, at least that's how it seems to be. Matthew Vernon is a Virgo and all Virgos find themselves, for some inexplicable reason, being labelled 'fussy.' Matthew, though is actually very broad minded, tolerant and far sighted. He can forgive a thousand transgressions and excuse a multitude of mistakes. You can take advantage of his endless good nature and generally abuse his willingness to be friendly without ever hearing so much as a word of complaint. If, though, as you walk all over Matthew you commit the cardinal sin of leaving your shoelaces undone, you will soon hear sharp words of complaint. There is though, a reason why Matthew is so often easy going, restrained, and liable to take the blame for things which are not his fault. Given his impeccable eye for detail, his infallible insight into other people, and his accurate good judgement he could soon end up ruling the world. To ensure that others have at least a fighting chance nature has imbued Matthew Vernon with a small handicap in the shape of a mild (and totally inappropriate) inferiority complex.

22nd September is Virgo, right? :-)

Yes, just. You're what they call being on the cusp of Libra which means that predicitons you might have would have bits of Libra chucked in. So whilst Virgos are supposed to be the Virgin Mary crossed with Mary of Mary&Martha, there's a bit of a Libran. Librans are supposed to be just unable to make their minds up, but always confident of their opinion at that particular time. I'd imagine that a Virgin on the cusp of Libra would be someone who's constantly got a different plan of how to organise the house and always moving stuff around.

I should do this at fairs, shouldn't I? I can do RW tarot too! I used to live with people who did this stuff so, whilst I don't believe it's predictive, the orthodoxy has rubbed off.

It doesn't help with conveying my general incredulity that, as fate would have it, I am completely Geminian.

I've been fascinated recently to explore Tarot as a way of understanding oneself - not so much a crystal ball as a mirror. If the cards symbolise both everyday life and the universal human journey towards maturity and enlightenment, then seeing how one reacts to the cards that are drawn once one understands the symbolism involved is, I think, quite possibly a good way to get some insight into one's own feelings..

Yep, that's the cool thing about Tarot. All the "occult powers" you need to determine your future are inside your own mind ... which makes them even more awesome really.

I used to do I Ching readings when I was worried about which direction I was going in, and I found that helped. The main problem I find with the Tarot is that my reaction to the cards can depend so much on the designs of the cards; there isn't so much of that kind of distraction with the I Ching. Must dig out the book and remind myself how it all works. There's a nifty way of doing it with coins rather than all that palaver with yarrow stalks, too.

That's what I like so much about the Vertigo tarot cards I've got; they're very abstract and figurative so they don't impose too much on my mind, and they're also taken from a 'mythology' I relate to, so I find them a good fit to my personality :)
